Weird little hotspot over New Mexico, isn’t it? We’re finally getting some summer weather now, in the first week of September. Night temperatures are becoming low though. I’ve slept in the van the last three nights and it does start to cool down a lot once the sun goes down. Brrrh! Definitely a feeling that summer is coming to an end and autumn (and winter) are just around the corner.

Bev - we’ve had some wonderful cool days in the last few, but that happens now and then in the summer anyway. So I haven’t quite yet felt like the seasons are changing here. But I imagine they feel that way there. I’m sure we’ll have some uncomfortably warm September days to come.

It sounds to me like it might be time for the NWS to look at the Athens site. I’m sure you remember how Rome kept reporting remarkably high temperatures for quite some time until they identified a problem at the site. Maybe Athens has a problem, too.

Yup= look at northern Illinois- cool and wet. The media has been making a lot out of the determination that this summer was the cloudiest since record keeping began here in the late 1800s.
