I am, indeed, thinking a LOT about myself right now. I think we’re done dodging bullets here in Collier County. This one looks like it’s gonna give us a beatin'.
Wayne, what’s yer pet theory? Global warming? Normal 40-year hurricane cycle? A little o' both? Enquiring minds want to know.

Brian, I’ll bet you are, and I was thinking about you and FC specifically. How far are you from the west coast?
You’ve got the 40-year cycle pegged - that’s the hook on which the global warming naysayers hang their hopes. Unfortunately for them, the climate indices like El Nino/La Nina and the North Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation history don’t favor their defense that this is just a cycle.
The AMO, the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation, which has been suggested to be the major motivator of hurricanes (ameliorated only by El Ninos, and we are in a mild one, something which WASN’T the case in the 30’s) is the hottest it’s ever been since measured. I say global warming, at this point, and at some reluctance because of the usual statistical hand-waving.

What a neat visual. The comparison is striking.
Maybe when the Christmas hurricane hits, the naysayers will consider global warming as a possibility.

I’m about 19 miles from coastal ground zero.
Say a little Wiccan prayer for my trees. We really don’t want to lose any of our trees on the Band-Aid.

Ya know, just cuz I haven’t left a comment lately doesn’t mean I’m not reading your posts.

Aww, Pablo, I’m not that sensitive, but I am so easily flattered. I’ve had early morning and late night work hours, and naps in-between, but all that’s behind me now. Sunday nights through Thursdays tend to be my busy times.
However I have found a New Plant which mystifies me, although I think it’s a Coralroot, which makes me ecstatic. As soon as I’m fairly certain, it’s the next post!
Brian, I can always speak for the trees!
FC, there actually has been a January hurricane - I can’t remember when it was now, have to consult my notes. It was a long time ago.
